SWITZERLAND

ABOUT SWITZERLAND
Switzerland is one of my most (if not THE TOP) recommendations for people traveling to Europe. This country is simply one of the most breathtaking places I have visited. The natural beauty paired with the quaint Germanic city designs truly cannot be compared! Some of the top highlights of our time in Switzerland were hiking Oeschinen Lake, visiting the Sleeping Lion Monument in Lucerne, and sightseeing the countryside via train. It is extremely easy to navigate and travel around Switzerland with English being widely used and understood. While it is certainly one of the most expensive countries we have visited, I can guarantee it will be worth your while.

Travel Tips - Switzerland
Lodging
Switzerland is overall just a very expensive place to travel, and lodging is no exception! During our time in Lucerne, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Luzern - Kriens. This hotel was located on the outskirts of the city of Lucerne, and we had to take the metro to get to the city center which was never too much of a hassle. The hotel itself was in a very quiet area and the rooms were wonderful. There were several different restaurants Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay here!
For our brief time in Zurich, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Zürich Airport. Similarly to our stay in Lucerne, this hotel was wonderful. Located conveniently near the airport, this hotel was perfect for our limbo needs between traveling to various locations. This hotel is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it is an easy train ride to get to the city center of Zurich. We had a very brief stay at this hotel, but it was lovely! We would recommend this stay.
Transportation
On par with most European cities, Switzerland is extremely transportation friendly. More specifically, you can get almost anywhere via plane, train, metro, and or Uber. For intercity flights, you can book via Skyscanner and or Google Flights. For trains and other forms of transportation, I recommend Rome2Rio and or Omio. Once you’re in the city, we found Lucerne and Zurich to be walkable.
