MASSACHUSETTS

ABOUT MASSACHUSETTS
Situated in the northeastern region of the United States, Massachusetts is rich in American history and infamous for the city of Boston. My mom and I took a mother-daughter trip during the fall to Boston and Salem and loved the Boston Tea Harbor and Salem Witch Trial tours offered on the coast. Massachusetts is absolutely stunning in the fall, even in November the trees were painted orange, crimson, and yellow as far as the eye could see. Some of our top highlights were walking around the bustling city of Boston and savoring a cup of clam chowder. I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful state in the fall, we adored the weather and picturesque natural scenery.

Travel Tips - Massachusetts
Lodging
Your accommodation options can vary greatly depending on where you stay in Massachusetts. Some great booking platform options I would recommend looking into are Airbnb, Expedia, and VRBO for booking your lodging. When we stayed in Boston, we booked through Expedia at the Hampton Inn Boston - Logan Airport. Truthfully, we did not really enjoy our stay here due to the unideal location and lack of overall cleanliness/comfortability. While it served our purposes of a more budget-friendly stay in Boston, I would not stay here again. I encourage you look elsewhere for accommodation!
Transportation
Similar to factors for accommodation, where you are wanting to travel within a state will vary greatly depending on whether it is more rural or urban. Keep in mind, the United States is incredibly large! Our public transportation here in America is nowhere near up to the standards of Europe – we have limited trains, metros, and it is almost impossible to walk anywhere. There is a reason there are countless memes about Europeans determined to walk here in the U.S. walking underneath interstates and alongside highways. I would STRONGLY urge you against this. Some suggestions I have would be to book a rental car with Hertz or Enterprise. Google Maps is a great navigating tool for your trip to the United States.
Activities
There is no shortage of incredible things to do in Massachusetts but here are some of my favorites:
-
Enjoy a spooky day at Salem and visit the Salem Witch Museum
-
Travel back in time at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum
-
Take a day tour down to Rhode Island
