HUNGARY

ABOUT HUNGARY
Eastern Europe is unbelievably easy to navigate, and when traveling around this area Hungary is most certainly worth a visit. Hungarian culture is unlike any other; the language, food, music...everything seemed to be a mesh of countless different historic and cultural backgrounds. In my personal experience I saw way more dolls in shops and souvenir stores than I have anywhere else.

Travel Tips - Hungary
Lodging
When I went to Budapest, I was traveling solo and so I chose to book my stay via Hostel World at the Maverick City Lodge. I really enjoyed the beds, particularly in this hostel, where you have a sort of enclosed bunk with a curtain for privacy. The location was good, easily navigable from the train station, and the decor was very quirky! Overall, this was a great budget stay, and I would recommend it for solo travelers.
Transportation
As with all the navigation around Europe, planes, trains, and buses are a great way to get around. I booked most of my trains with Omio, which is a fantastic platform for European transportation. Eurail is also a great decision! Skyscanner is a great application for finding cheap flights, as well as Google Flights. It is important to note that there is no Uber in Hungary, but it is a very walkable city!
Activities
There is no shortage of incredible things to do in Hungary but here are some of my favorites:
-
Visit the Parliament Building
-
Soak in the Széchenyi Thermal Bath
-
Visit the Heroes’ Square
