ENGLAND

ABOUT ENGLAND
England was on my bucket list for what feels like a lifetime! In the United States, I feel as though we have a very romanticized idea of “the motherland” that consists of afternoon tea parties and proper accents. I know my imagination went straight to all the time pieces I have watched over the years (i.e., Bridgerton, Outlander, Reign, etc.) and truthfully it still took my breath away! It was a dream come true to explore England and bounce around London, Manchester, and Liverpool. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of this beautiful country!

Travel Tips - England
Lodging
For our stay in London, we booked our stay through Expedia at Central Park Hotel. Personally, I really enjoy booking through Expedia and have had great success traveling with this platform. This was one of our nicer stays in Europe and overall, we really enjoyed it! The hotel was in a fantastic location near Hyde Park, and we were able to walk around London (fairly easily) from this stay. The hotel was very nice, but the only strange thing was that the hotel was doing construction while we were there, so we had to stay in the basement (which was not accessible friendly) and there were no windows! They had a wall that projected a nature scene and mimicked natural light which was fine for us! The basement had air conditioning which was VERY needed in the middle of the summer in London. Overall, we would recommend this stay for your trip to England!
For our time in Manchester, we stayed at ibis Manchester Centre Princess Street Hotel booked through Expedia. Honestly, Manchester was a bust for us. I did not know too much about the city, but we were very disappointed with the stay and the city. Manchester is extremely industrial and for me, there wasn’t much to do. Our stay was mediocre but served our purposes for a budget stay in the area that was close to downtown. If you have limited time in England, I recommend skipping Manchester and staying in Liverpool and or Bath.
Transportation
As with all the navigation around Europe, planes, trains, and busses are a great way to get around. I booked most of my trains with Omio, which is a fantastic platform for European transportation. Eurail is also a great decision too! Skyscanner is a great application for finding cheap flights, as well as Google Flights. We took a train from London to Manchester and roundtrip from Manchester to Liverpool and it was very easy to navigate!
Activities
While we were only in England a little less than a week, there was still plenty to do in and around London and Manchester! Here are some of our favorite recommendations:
-
Have a cup of tea at the British Museum
-
Take a day trip to Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Bath
-
Explore Liverpool and enjoy all of the Beatle’s history
