DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

ABOUT THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
The Dominican Republic is an absolute Caribbean paradise. With endless blue skies and consistent 80-degree weather, there is no excuse for not adding this country to your bucketlist. I spent a week with my mother exploring the eastern region of the island near Punta Cana and there was no end of land and water activities (or relaxation on the beach!).

Travel Tips - Dominican Republic
Lodging
For our stay in Punta Cana, my mother and I stayed at the Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino. This hotel was ABOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! This resort was a paradise -- located right by the ocean with endless activities, events, and cuisine. The rooms were pristine, and the staff was amazingly helpful and kind. I can easily see the allure of this location for newlyweds, honeymooners, or even soon-to-be engaged couples (we saw the cutest proposal set-up by the beach on night). Very romantic play that can still be enjoyed with family or friends. The location of the hotel was great and every tour agency we booked with was able to pick us up directly from our lodging. Overall, we had a fantastic stay, and I would go back in a heartbeat. 100000000% would recommend staying at the Lopesan hotel.
Transportation
Obviously, to get from the United States to any region of the Dominican Republic you most likely are going to need to take a flight. Depending on where you are flying from, it can range from 2 hours to 12 hours (flying from the western U.S. is a pain -- I won't lie). Once you land, I highly recommend traveling with Nexus Tours. This agency serves as the interim Uber (to my knowledge, Uber was NOT available in the DR) and was phenomenal. I felt very safe and supported by the agency and everyone was incredibly professional. They were kind enough to carry all of our luggage (each time we got in and or out of the car) and we were escorted to our destination. They were timely and we never got anywhere late. Would definitely recommend!
