COLORADO

ABOUT COLORADO
A place very near and dear to my heart, Colorado is and always will be my home. Having grown up on the front range and attended the University of Colorado-Boulder and Colorado State University, I am CERTAINLY biased in my love for this colorful state. Colorado is highly sought after for its natural beauty, the Rocky Mountains drawing in tourists from all corners of the world. There is truly no place on the planet like our national parks, you can see moose, deer, bears, and all sorts of wildlife. I cannot tell you the number of times we have gotten alerts about a bear in our neighborhoods and or campuses. When I was little, we would have elk in our backyard every fall. For magical outdoor adventures, Colorado is an absolute must for nature enthusiasts.

Travel Tips - Colorado
Lodging
Your accommodation options can vary greatly depending on where you stay in Colorado. Some great booking platform options I would recommend looking into are Airbnb, Expedia, and VRBO for booking your lodging.
Transportation
Similar to factors for accommodation, where you are wanting to travel within a state will vary greatly depending on whether it is more rural or urban. Keep in mind, the United States is incredibly large! Our public transportation here in America is nowhere near up to the standards of Europe – we have limited trains, metros, and it is almost impossible to walk anywhere. There is a reason there are countless memes about Europeans determined to walk here in the U.S. walking underneath interstates and alongside highways. I would STRONGLY urge you against this. Some suggestions I have would be to book a rental car with Hertz or Enterprise. Google Maps is a great navigating tool for your trip to the United States.
Activities
There is no shortage of incredible things to do in Colorado but here are some of my favorites:
-
Spend a weekend at a cabin in Vail, Breckenridge, Glenwood, or Steamboat
-
Hike through Rocky Mountain National Park – especially Emerald Lake
-
Enjoy a day in downtown Denver indulging in food and drinks
