ARIZONA

ABOUT ARIZONA
Arizona is not for the faint of heart! The land of desert and cacti, this state has a record high temperature of 128 degrees Fahrenheit! Arizona has a very unique beauty and a dominant culture of Native American origin that is still readily present (keep in mind that ALL of the United States is indigenous to the Native American people whose land was stolen by “American” colonists). Although we do our best to stay out of Arizona in the summer months, many Americans, called “Snow Birds,” retire to this state for warmer winter months. Nature is an overwhelming allure for tourists, hosting the infamous Grand Canyon. Despite the extreme heat, there are countless adventures to be had in Arizona.

Travel Tips - Arizona
Lodging
Your accommodation options can vary greatly depending on where you stay in Arizona. Some great booking platform options I would recommend looking into are Airbnb, Expedia, and VRBO for booking your lodging.
Transportation
Similar to factors for accommodation, where you are wanting to travel within a state will vary greatly depending on whether it is more rural or urban. Keep in mind, the United States is incredibly large, and so is Arizona! Our public transportation here in America is nowhere near up to the standards of Europe – we have limited trains, metros, and it is almost impossible to walk anywhere. There is a reason there are countless memes about Europeans determined to walk here in the U.S. walking underneath interstates and alongside highways. I would STRONGLY urge you against this. Some suggestions I have would be to book a rental car with Hertz or Enterprise. Google Maps is a great navigating tool for your trip to the United States.
Activities
There is no shortage of incredible things to do in Arizona but here are some of my favorites:
-
Explore the Grand Canyon
-
Indulge in all of the desert culture and unique cuisine
-
Take a selfie with a cactus
